ABOUT
Edited by Brandon
Brandon owns and edits PremiumHike. The job of the site is narrow: tell a homeowner why a premium might have moved, what a non-renewal notice has to say in that state, and which public document we actually read.
Pages are built from state statutes, insurance-department releases, NAIC and Insurance Information Institute publications, residual-market announcements, and news reports. A news report of a rate filing is labeled as a report. It is not treated as an approved order unless the regulator or the company published the outcome and we linked it.
The review date on this build is 2026-10-14. Statutes and filings change. A page can be wrong the week after it is reviewed. That is why every factual sentence points at a source, and why unverified items say needs verification instead of a borrowed number.
SERFF Filing Access is the public window for rate filings in participating states. This project did not create an account and did not download a filing PDF unless a regulator or the insurer had already published the result.
The site does not sell insurance, does not take applications, and does not keep a customer file. Quote-comparison and ad slots are present and switched off. See the disclosures.
How a fact gets on a page
- Read the statute, the release, or the statistical table.
- Write the sentence so it does not outrun that document.
- Link the document and date the reading.
- If the document was not read, say needs verification and point to where a reader can check.
Questions people type
Who edits PremiumHike?
Brandon is the owner and editor. The pages are a research notebook for homeowners, compiled from statutes, regulator releases, the NAIC, the Insurance Information Institute, and news reports of filings. Brandon is not, on this site, acting as your insurance agent. [27]
What does needs verification mean?
We did not re-read a current official source for that point during the review dated on the page. Treat it as a lead, not a fact. The statute, the department, or the SERFF filing is the document that settles it. [26]
